Graduation Season

Graduation. A time of transition. The end of one chapter, and the start of another. Commencement ceremonies abound, from preschool to graduate school. Each step a celebrated milestone. Luckily, my kids send photos and videos of my grandkids’ awards and graduation ceremonies. I’m grateful modern technology allows me to stay connected and see the important events in their lives, even though I live miles away.

I remember my high school graduation as if it was yesterday – the pomp and circumstances, the flurry of excitement. It was the end of an era. We were splitting up and venturing off into new territory, our universities strewn across the United States. The world was our oyster. The possibilities were endless. Similarly, I vividly recall my law school graduation. My classmates and I had bonded through study groups, moot court, and paper chasing. Job offers in hand and bright futures ahead, we were determined to make our mark in the world.

The freshly minted graduates look so young to me. The older I get, the younger everyone else appears. Their future lies ahead, sparkling in the distance, a diamond in the rough. Their heads are in the clouds, filled with dreams of success and stardom. I wish them the best of luck in life. May they all achieve their wildest dreams and find joy in the journey.
