INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Fairlife Chocolate Protein Shake (11.5 oz. Bottle)
- 1 Tbl. Unsweetened Dutch Cocoa Powder
- 1 Tbl. Jello Sugar-Free Chocolate Fudge Pudding Mix (1.4 oz. Box)
- Toppings (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Pour a Fairlife Chocolate Protein Shake into the Ninja Creami plastic tub. Add the cocoa powder and pudding mix. Mix the dry ingredients into the liquid with a milk frother or small wire whip.
Cover and freeze for 24 hours – the mixture should solidify. Remove the tub from the freezer, insert into the Ninja Creami machine, and churn the ice cream using the Lite Ice Cream setting.
The mixture will be crumbly (not creamy) after the first cycle. Add 1- 2 tablespoons of Fairlife or milk (or more if you prefer a thinner texture). Spin again.
After two spins, the mixture is the consistency of a Shake Shack concrete or frozen custard. After three spins, it’s like a Wendy’s frosty. Each spin adds more air, and the ice cream becomes thinner and fluffier.
NOTES:
Protein ice cream is very versatile. It makes a great meal substitute, snack, or dessert.
I am a chocoholic and like a rich fudgy taste. And I prefer dark chocolate over milk chocolate. However, if the chocolate flavor is too intense for your liking, you can substitute chocolate pudding for the chocolate fudge pudding mix. You also can omit the cocoa powder or reduce the quantity to suit your taste.
My husband adds peanut butter protein powder and some banana slices to his mixture for additional protein and flavor. Just be sure the liquid does not exceed the fill line.
Experiment with different flavors of protein shakes and pudding mixes for variety. Be sure to use instant pudding, not the kind that requires cooking.
For a decadent dessert, add ice cream sundae toppings or stir in mini chocolate chips, crumbled Oreo cookies, crushed graham crackers, chocolate chip cookie dough, mini Reese’s peanut butter cups, toffee bits, crunched peppermint, mini marshmallows, banana slices, slivered almonds, etc.
There’s no limit to the flavor combinations you can create. I added marshmallows and slivered almonds, and it tasted just like Rocky Road ice cream. Have fun and enjoy!
